AI Unleashed: How GPT & Gemini Turned the Tables on Our 2025 Predictions, part IV
By Jason Stoffer and Simran Suri
Our AI Unleashed series has taken us from Health and Knowledge to Productivity, and now our final focus area, Power Redistribution.
As with our previous focus areas, we fed our 2025 Predictions into ChatGPT and Gemini, asking them both to generate 5 venture-scale business ideas per prediction using the following prompt:
We are Maveron, a venture capital firm focused on investments that can impact millions of lives. For each of the predictions below, can you please offer 5 ideas that have the potential to be huge venture-upside decacorns?
Instead of our typical investment thesis or deep dive, we’re sharing the raw outputs of our AI experiment so you can judge them for yourself.
If you’re a founder working on any of these ideas, please reach out! We’d love to learn more about your work (including how close these AI ideas are to your actual business).
When we published our Trump Tracker last month, we wrote that “[Trump’s] election has already highlighted deep social divisions that are beginning to shape how consumers engage with brands, products and cultural trends.” In hindsight, each of the following predictions around Power Redistribution could have been leading indicators for this deep societal shift. Read more below:
Dupe Economy
The focus on dupes will ultimately lead consumers to desire authenticity, as prices increase thanks to Trump’s tariffs and quality drops. Brands may finally get a reprieve from the plethora of knock-offs, but will still have to find new ways to reach customers.
House of Brands No More?
As social and commerce converge even further, we believe standalone CPG brands that deliver better benefits and drive traffic to the store through authentic online messaging will win. These standalone brands will replace traditional “Houses of Brands” who acquire or launch competitors to upstarts to remain relevant, like P&G or Unilever.
The Business of College Sports
As media rights and sponsorship opportunities shift, the landscape for venture investment in college sports could open up in a multitude of ways, including investing directly in new leagues or athletes.
