AI Unleashed: How GPT & Gemini Turned the Tables on Our 2025 Predictions, part II
By Jason Stoffer and Simran Suri
Have you ever wondered what happens when AI takes the driver’s seat during a thesis brainstorming session at an early-stage VC firm?
As consumer investors, we’re constantly testing new AI tools we might invest in or use in our daily workstreams. Recently, we decided to take things one step further. We fed our 2025 Predictions into ChatGPT and Gemini to find new venture-scale business ideas using the following prompt:
We are Maveron, a venture capital firm focused on investments that can impact millions of lives. For each of the predictions below, can you please offer 5 ideas that have the potential to be huge venture-upside decacorns?
The results blew our minds — and were way more interesting to share than another long-form VC blog post. Last week, we published the business ideas within our Health focus area. This week, we’re excited to share those within our Knowledge focus area.
If you’re a founder working on any of these ideas, please reach out! We’d love to learn more about your work (including how close these AI ideas are to your actual business).
In a blog post outlining our key focus areas this summer, we wrote that “it’s unclear if any companies in market today have unlocked defensible business models, but we believe the world-defining, generational consumer AI companies will have deep brand loyalty and value propositions focused on personalization, in addition to clear economic moats.”
A lot has changed since early September. Most notably, we’re seeing the AI application layer begin to take shape, with vertical-specific companies like Harvey in legaltech, Abridge in digital health and Cursor in prosumer tools stealing headlines with noteworthy fundraising rounds and new product feature announcements. Looking ahead, there are 3 areas in consumer that we believe are ripe for AI applications:
Influencer Fatigue
The influencer marketing industry is worth $24B today and primarily consists of sponsored content, but we think organic UGC (or content that looks like organic UGC, but is actually AI-generated) will be the most lucrative moving forward.
Supplement OS
With access to more ingredients and manufacturing techniques thanks to RFK Jr.’s focus on wellness, competition could increase exponentially. We believe brands will seek out AI tools to optimize and accelerate product innovation to more effectively navigate these new market conditions.
Crypto’s Groundhog Day
2025’s crypto spring will be defined by new consumer experiences enriched by AI, which should embed them more deeply in our daily lives. This could be through personalization, content generation or data analysis and could sit across any industry ranging from healthcare to commerce.
